Gift Policy

How Love Gifts work on Sign-Out, the 90% / 10% revenue split, and Paystack settlement timelines.

1. What Are Love Gifts?

Love Gifts are voluntary contributions sent by visitors to graduates on Sign-Out. They are:

  • Voluntary contributions, not investments
  • Non-investment transactions
  • Non-refundable after Paystack successfully processes the payment

Senders contribute in appreciation of the graduate; Sign-Out facilitates the transfer.

2. Revenue Sharing — 90% Graduate / 10% Platform

Every successful Love Gift is split:

  • Graduate Share: 90%
  • Platform Share: 10%

Example — a ₦10,000 gift:

  • Graduate receives ₦9,000
  • Sign-Out platform fee is ₦1,000

The split is calculated on the gross amount before bank or payment-processor charges. Paystack transaction fees are deducted before settlement in line with their pricing.

3. Why The Platform Fee Exists

The 10% platform fee supports:

  • Hosting and infrastructure
  • Security and fraud prevention
  • Customer support
  • Hall of Fame services
  • Prayer Wall services
  • Continuous product development
  • Compliance and operations

Without this fee, Sign-Out cannot reliably operate the gift, settlement, and memory-preservation systems graduates depend on.

4. Paystack Settlement Policy — Important

Allocated Funds ≠ Settled Funds.

A successful gift payment does not necessarily mean immediate transfer to your bank account. Paystack settles funds according to its own schedule, which may include:

  • Same-day settlement schedules
  • Next-business-day settlement schedules
  • Weekend delays
  • Public holiday delays
  • Compliance reviews
  • Banking network delays

Sign-Out does not control Paystack settlement timelines. Your dashboard will show the live Paystack status for each gift so you always see the true state of the transaction.

5. Settlement Statuses

Gifts move through Paystack-defined statuses synchronised from webhooks, verification APIs, and reconciliation jobs. Possible terminal statuses include:

  • Success
  • Failed
  • Abandoned
  • Cancelled
  • Reversed
  • Voided

Only "Success" gifts count toward your gift totals. Other statuses are displayed for transparency.

6. Transaction Status Transparency

Your dashboard displays the actual Paystack status for every gift after checkout completes:

  • ✅ Success
  • ❌ Failed
  • ⚠️ Abandoned
  • 🚫 Cancelled
  • 🔄 Reversed
  • ⛔ Voided

We do not display generic "Pending" for completed Paystack transactions. Only verified Paystack outcomes are shown.

7. Payout Account Requirements

To enable gifts you must provide:

  • A valid bank account number
  • The correct bank
  • Verified account information matching your identity

Sign-Out creates a Paystack subaccount on your behalf. If verification fails or Paystack later reports the account as inactive, gift collection may be suspended until you re-verify.

8. Refunds and Reversals

Once a Love Gift is successfully processed and settled, it is non-refundable. If Paystack reverses or voids a transaction, the corresponding gift status will update accordingly and the gift will no longer count toward your totals.

9. Abuse and Fraud

Manipulating gifts — including self-funding through fraudulent cards, coordinated chargebacks, or collusion — is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate suspension, forfeiture of pending settlements, and permanent removal from the platform.
